Training and Teaching
Swarland Avenue is proud to be a training and teaching practice and we support GP registrars and medical students in gaining the skills and experience needed to work in a general practice.
Every 6 months sees the rotation of a GP registrar at the surgery. A GP Registrar is a fully qualified doctor who will have also completed 2 years in a hospital before embarking on a 3 year GP registration course.
We have medical student placements for aspiring future health care professionals. Patients may be asked for consent for a medical student to sit in during their consultation with one of our GPs.
Research
Doing research is important to the NHS because the outcomes can be used to influence the quality of services delivered to patients. We are active with research but do ensure we carefully select areas which are suitable to developing services for the needs of our patient population.
